A marketplace for food made closer to home

foodforfolk brings independent growers, bakers, beekeepers, dairies, makers and other local food businesses together in one place. It gives people a clearer way to find what is available nearby, understand who made it and buy directly from the people behind their food.

For producers, it is a practical local shopfront: a place to share what they make, manage availability and help nearby customers discover them. For customers, it is a more direct route to good food and the people who produce it.

Our mission: better food, stronger local connections

We want to help people get closer to food that is grown, baked and made locally—especially when they are looking for simple ingredients, naturally made products or a clearer sense of where their food comes from. foodforfolk does not label every local product as healthier; it makes the information and the producers behind it easier to find, so people can make choices that feel right for them.

When more of the value from a food purchase stays with independent producers, it can help skills, small businesses and local food culture thrive. That is the community part of the mission: making it easier for people to support the neighbours who grow, bake and make the food around them.

  • Discover food and drink made by independent people nearby.
  • Learn who made it, what is available and how to collect it.
  • Give local producers a clearer way to reach their community.

Why not buy local?

Buying local should feel useful, not like another difficult rule to follow. A loaf of bread, a jar of honey, a veg box or a prepared meal can be a simple starting point. The aim is not to replace every food shop overnight, but to make the local choice easier whenever it suits you.

By connecting people with better visibility of the food around them, foodforfolk helps cultivate a more connected, resilient local food environment—one purchase, producer and shared table at a time.
